Pillars of eternity 2 turn based1/5/2024 ![]() The gods aren't gods, they're kind of big magic AIs created by the ancient Engwithans to address the problem of a meaningless empty cosmos. ![]() Here's a few quick reminders of general in-world stuff that's immediately relevant: *I don't care what you say, squiggly red line, "benefitted" is an accepted spelling.ĭeadfire's story is pretty self-contained, and the game does a decent job of reminding you of the stuff you need to know. "play RtwP unless you hate RTwP play Hard unless you just want to cruise through combat to get to the next story bit"). I'm just curious if there's a consensus (e.g. Those games tended to be pretty easy on Normal but unfun on their hardest settings, leading to "one tick above normal" being my preferred setting. For people who have actually played the game in-depth: Turn-based or Real-team-with-Pause? And what should I set the difficulty to? I found PoE to actually be pretty excellent overall, and I've beaten Tyranny 3 times, so I'm pretty familiar with the RtwP mechanics.I literally had to type pillars of eternity the mother into a search engine because I had forgotten the "Grieving" part.) This is the biggest mental block keeping me from starting the game. (Also I've forgotten the names of every person, place, and thing other than Durance, Eothas, Cad Nua, and the Dyrwood. I realize that I don't need to remember all 100 hours of PoE in detail in order to enjoy the sequel, but I feel like I've forgotten even the deep themes. it seems I had entirely forgotten what those revelations were. Like, I remember being blown away by the revelations in the final act of the main game, but. What's the best way to refresh my memory of what happened in the first game? Does PoE 2 do an adequate job of catching me up? If not, what's a good refresher? I looked at a very brief summary of the first game's plot and was stunned at how little I remembered.Unfortunately, I've now put it on hold for long enough that starting it fills me with anxious dread seems a little daunting. Because Pillars of Eternity benefitted* so much from post-release patches (like most of the post-Kickstarter wave of isometric RPGs), I put off starting it for a very long time. I was a huge fan of the original Pillars of Eternity - I put over 100 hours into the save file that I'll be bringing over, completed an entire playthrough including all sidequests and DLC and stuff. ![]()
